Sandra Bullock is looking back at an extremely difficult and emotional time in her life.
In a new interview conducted by longtime close friend Jennifer Aniston, the 62-year-old Oscar-winning actress shared some very rare comments about her divorce from ex-husband Jesse James following his cheating scandal.
If you didn’t know, Sandra was married to the now-57-year-old automotive mechanic and television personality from 2005 to 2010. They split when multiple women came forward and claimed that they had affairs with Jesse, and he admitted to his infidelity. That same year, Sandra adopted her son Louis, now 16, alone.

While speaking with Jennifer for an Interview magazine profile published on Tuesday (September 8), Sandra looked back at all of the attention surrounding her divorce, trying to keep Louis‘ adoption private, and filming her 2013 movie Gravity all at the same time.
“The one film that was the most meaningful to me, because it was paralleling where I was, was Gravity,” Sandra shared. “It was during a really dark time in my life.”
“Being locked in a box by myself with no one to talk to for nine hours a day, you do a lot of thinking,” she added of filming the space-themed movie.
Sandra went on to look back at all of the paparazzi following her around constantly when Jesse‘s cheating scandal came to light.
“I was just cleaning out the closet, and I found these hockey bags for stuffing clothes in for travel,” she recalled. “Child Protective Services, do not come after me, but when the poop hit the fan for me … I realized I had to get out of the house because the paparazzi were going to descend.”

“No one knew I had a newborn, so I put him in his car carrier, put it in the hockey bag and zipped the hockey bag around him,” Sandra admitted. “Then, I carried the hockey bag to the car, as though I was just carrying any random hockey bag.”
For Sandra, it was especially important to maintain Louis‘ privacy amid her ex-husband’s scandal.
“You have to operate like the CIA. If you’re surrounded by good people, you’ll be fine,” she stated. “But if people near you mean you harm, no matter how covert you are and how much pre-planning you do, your privacy is information that brings them cash. I had it happen recently and it broke my heart.”
Years after adopting Louis, Sandra then adopted daughter Laila, now 12, in 2015.
In this same interview, Sandra explained why her new movie Practical Magic 2 is a “love letter” to her daughter.
