While the K-Pop band BTS is expected to be in attendance at the AMAs, their performance to open the show did not actually happen at the show.
The group opened the show with a performance of their song “Hooligan,” but it did not happen inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The 2026 American Music Awards are being held live on Monday (May 25) in Las Vegas.
BTS‘ performance of “Hooligan” appears to have been filmed at their Arirang World Tour, which happens to be in Las Vegas all week long with shows at Allegiant Stadium on May 23, 24, 27, and 28. The tour moves to some international locations for the next couple months before arriving back in the United States on August 1.
“Hooligan” is a song off BTS‘ album Arirang, which was released in March 2026.
“Why this bassline slappin’ so rude? / Drop it lower than chopped and screwed (Screwed, screwed, screwed) / Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, hooligan / Watch this, watch this beat goin’ hooligan,” they sing on the chorus.
