Alex Cooper Breaks Silence on Dave Portnoy’s Recent Allegation About Her Exit from Barstool Sports | Just Jared – Celebrity News and Gossip

Alex Cooper is speaking for the first time in response to the recent allegation made by Dave Portnoy.

For those who don’t know, Alex got her start in the business while hosting the “Call Her Daddy” podcast at Dave‘s company, Barstool Sports. She co-hosted the podcast with Sofia Franklyn from 2018 to 2020 until her departure and then she hosted solo for one more year at Barstool. She then left the company and brought her podcast to Spotify.

In a Wall Street Journal profile published in June 2026, Dave alleged that Alex and Sofia were plotting to say they were sexually harassed at Barstool in order to get out of the contract..

“Cooper, he claims, told him she and Franklyn had a plan to say they were sexually harassed at Barstool to get out of their contract,” the report claims.

During a CNBC interview on August 12, Alex was asked to address Dave‘s allegation.

Alex Cooper does not confirm or deny the allegation

When asked why she hasn’t responded yet, Alex said, “I’m pregnant. I’m busy building a child.”

“Whenever I see Dave online, we all enjoy his banter. He is a very entertaining person, and I have a very great and complicated relationship with Dave,” Alex began. “He gave me my start in this industry and I will never not be grateful to him.”

“I haven’t read the book, but I remember seeing, obviously getting tagged in those things, and that’s not how I remember that at all. But I also am like, Dave’s got his version, and I’ve got my version, and we’re all good.”

Alex was asked if she wanted to share her “version” of the story. She said, “No. I’m in my mother era. I’m no drama right now. We’re here to talk business.”

Alex recently revealed a diagnosis she received while pregnant with her first child.
