Sara Bareilles is dropping her new album Good Grief this Friday and she’ll be celebrating its release by performing a series of free performances in New York City this weekend.
The Grammy-winning singer has partnered with Lincoln Center Theater and The Strangers Project for her three day installation and performance series, Good Grief: Stories and Song.
The installation will be free and open to the public, taking place from August 28 to 30 at Lincoln Center Theater’s Christopher Lightfoot Walker Lobby at the Vivian Beaumont. Sara has created an immersive experience highlighting our shared humanity and our collective need for sharing.
Hundreds of stories from The Strangers Project—an ongoing collection of anonymous, handwritten true stories shared by strangers since 2009—will be on display and intermingled with audio recordings from Bareilles’ fans who have been invited to share stories of grief. The hope is to create an invitation to the general public to interact and receive what is offered, and then gift their own stories to deepen the growing conversation.
Sara will be at the installation to perform songs from her new album on Friday 8/28 at 6:30pm, Saturday 8/29 at 4:30pm, and Sunday 8/30 at 1:30pm. She will perform on a Steinway Spirio piano installed at the center of the space and pre-recorded piano performances will fill the space during all other opening hours.
