According to a new report from THR, there is “potential” for a second movie.
“While there are no official conversations underway between Weir and Amazon MGM, insiders confirm a sequel isn’t out of the question. (The merchandising potential of Rocky, played by James Ortiz, is substantial.),” they reported.
They also note that the author has never written a sequel to one of his books yet, and he’s currently working on an unrelated novel. However, he has said he is “toying with potential sequel ideas,” though not enough for a novel just yet. Sources from the studio suggest that the possibility of a sequel relies on whether he’d like to pen the follow-up book.
In the meantime, the movie just set a box office record.
