Rose McGowan is sighing in relief after Harvey Weinstein‘s sentencing this week.
The 53-year-old actress and activist has been very vocal about condemning sexual abusers over the years, and has spoken about the former Hollywood producer many times.
In 2017, she reportedly received a settlement from him in relation to an alleged sexual assault in 1997 during the Sundance Film Festival.
Two years later, Rose sued him, and Lisa Bloom and David Boies, for conspiring to discredit and silence her rape allegations against Harvey. However, the case was dismissed in 2021 after she fired her attorneys and missed a court-ordered briefing deadline.
Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 15 years in prison
On Wednesday (September 23), the disgraced producer was sentenced to 15 years in prison in New York, more than a year after he was convicted of a first-degree criminal sexual act involving former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley.
Harvey has already served six years related to the case after previously being sentenced to 23 years.

Rose McGowan reacts to Harvey Weinstein sentencing with Instagram video
After the news of his sentencing came out, Rose took to her Instagram account to react to the news with a video response.
“It’s done. I can’t really adequately explain what this is like, what this feels like. It’s too strange and surreal and massive exhale and massive f yes,” she says in the clip. “Enough. Years stolen from so many of us. For me, it’s been close to three decades now of being harassed, stalked, terrorized. I can only talk about my experience, but I know others have had the same. The scale of which drove me to storing up anger and using it as fuel so I could change a system of thought.”
“Thank you to the women in New York. You did this,” she added, along with a screenshot of a news article.
In the caption of the post, Rose said, “There are not enough hashtags for this moment.” Watch her video below.
