Savannah Guthrie made a rare reference to her missing mother Nancy Guthrie on the latest episode of Today.
During the Thursday morning show (September 10), Savannah was joined by her co-anchors Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones, Al Roker, Carson Daly, Dylan Dreyer, and Craig Melvin to make a big announcement.
“We are heading to Ireland,” Jenna shared with viewers, revealing the hosts will be filming live episodes on October 16 for all four hours of the show.
Savannah revealed that visiting Ireland has been a bucket list destination for her for a long time, and then mentioned that her mother’s family was Irish.
“I love that we’re all going. I’ve never been to Ireland,” she said, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Savannah continued, “My mother’s family… my mother was Irish, [as was] her grandmother. They were from Galway.”
Nancy, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after last being seen on January 31. Her home was declared a crime scene and the FBI believes her disappearance was a kidnapping. It has been seven months since then and there haven’t been any major arrests or significant breakthroughs.

Savannah took time off work after her mother’s disappearance before returning in April. She rarely mentions Nancy on-air, but she did recently give a major interview where she revealed new info about the scene of the crime that had not been previously disclosed.
In August, she marked 6 months since her mother was taken with an Instagram post pleading with the public to help her in the search for Nancy.
