ZZ Top Abruptly Cancels Hollywood Bowl Show Due to ‘Unforeseen Personnel Matters’

Sad news for fans hoping to see ZZ Top in concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

The rock band was scheduled to perform at the venue in Los Angeles on Wednesday (August 5), but hours before they were scheduled to hit the stage, they abruptly announced that the show had been canceled.

“The ZZ Top tour has unforeseen personnel matters that have forced the band to cancel its appearance at the Los Angeles landmark,” read a statement on the band’s official Instagram account.

In an additional statement, frontman Billy F. Gibbons commented, “Insurmountable obstacles requiring canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance. Friends, fans and followers of ZZ Top are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption.”

The band also announced that ticketholders will get refunds at their point of purchase.

Cheap Trick was also scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl show, but after ZZ Top canceled, the band announced that they would be performing at a different venue instead.

“In place of the now canceled scheduled Aug 5th show, we will be playing a very special, intimate show at The Troubadour in West Hollywood!” Cheap Trick wrote on Instagram. “Come down for a very special evening with us!”

As of right now, ZZ Top is still scheduled to perform on Friday, August 7 at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno, Calif.
