The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final is happening today (July 19) between Spain and Argentina, and fans might be wondering what prize the winning team gets!
Each team that participated received $1.5 million in preparation costs, and each team does receive money.
Last year, the FIFA council approved $655 million in monetary winnings.
FIFA revealed how much money the winning team will receive
Out of that $655 million, the winning team – which will be either Argentina or Spain – will get $50 million at the conclusion of the tournament. That money will go to the country’s national football federation.
Then, the players will also get a $50 million prize.
How much do the rest of the teams earn?
People reported that each team gets a little less, based on where they finished. For example, second place will get $33 million, third place will get $29 million, fourth place will get $27 million, and so on. Fifth place earners will get $19 million, as will sixth, seventh, and eighth place. Teams that finish ninth through 16th get $15 million.
The lowest placing teams get $9 million.
