Zahara Jolie-Pitt is inching closer and closer to having “Pitt” legally removed from her last name.
If you are not aware, last month, the 21-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt filed court documents to remove “Pitt” from her full name.
She hasn’t been going be “Jolie-Pitt” for some time now. When Zahara joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Spelman College in 2023, she introduced herself just using “Jolie” as her last name. Zahara also went by just her mother’s last name when she graduated from college.
Zahara has announced her request through a court approved notice
TMZ is reporting that Zahara has undergone a crucial step in this journey. She followed a required step in California’s name change process by publicly announcing her request through a court-approved notice before the judge reviews her petition. The notice ran in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on June 16, June 23, June 30, and July 7.
Under California law, people requesting a legal name change are generally required to publish a notice of their petition in an approved newspaper before a court hearing. The notice must typically run once a week for four consecutive weeks, allowing anyone who may object to the change an opportunity to submit a written opposition. After the publication requirement is completed, a judge reviews the request and makes the final decision on whether to approve the name change.
Zahara has a hearing scheduled on September 28.
What is a Brad Pitt source saying about this?
A TMZ source who is “close to Brad” reacted: “they believe Angelina has caused the rift between Brad and the children … and this is just the latest chapter in the very sad and never-ending campaign to alienate children from their father.”
Along with Zahara, Brad and Angelina also share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 20, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
If you don’t know, on her 18th birthday in 2024, Shiloh filed court documents to remove “Pitt” from her last name. Vivienne and Maddox have also taken steps to simply use “Jolie” as their last names as well.
