Anya Taylor-Joy is entering the Lord of the Rings universe.
The 30-year-old The Witch actress is joining the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, Variety reported Monday (June 15).
She’ll play Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, described as “a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil.”
The film is being directed by Andy Serkis, who returns to play the role of Gollum.
Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf, with Elijah Wood back as Frodo and Lee Pace playing King Thranduil.
Kate Winslet is joining as Marigol, while Jamie Dornan joins as Strider, and Leo Woodall stars as Halvard.
Viggo Mortensen will not be reprising his role as Aragorn in the upcoming The Lord of the Rings prequel movie.
The Hunt for Gollum is set to be released in December 2027 after originally being slated for 2026. Andy Serkis, who portrayed Gollum in the original trilogy, will direct and star in the project. Original trilogy creators Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens are producing.
